See live owls, hawks and falcons in flight at Grassland Bird Trust’s 8th annual Winter Raptor Fest! Meet the birds up close in the new Wild Encounter exhibit to see and about the birds in their “natural” habitats – including some of our most endangered species! Keep an eye out for live fox, fisher, porcupine and other animals along the way!

GBT FUNdraiser at Artisanal Brew Works!

SARATOGA SPRINGS  Kick off your weekend at Artisanal Brew Works on Friday, April 19th to help Grassland Bird Trust conserve critical habitat in our own back yard for New York’s endangered, threatened, and at-risk grassland birds!  Artisanal Brew Works will donate $1 of every drink sold to GBT.

Grab your binoculars, dress in layers and head out to the Washington County Grasslands with FIBA founder/ Executive Director Laurie LaFond & avid birder Rich Speidel to look for owls and other wintering raptors.  Likely sightings include Short-eared owls, Snowy owls, Rough-legged hawks, Red-tailed hawks, Northern harriers, Horned larks, Snow buntings and more!  Group size is limited. CALL Rich at (518) 623-2587 to register.

Grassland Breeding Birds "Peak Preview 2"

Nesting activity reaches its peak now!  Join us for a return trip to the 64 acres and surrounding area to celebrate the abundance of breeding grassland songbirds! Likely sightings include Eastern meadowlarks, Bobolinks, Savannah sparrows, Grasshopper sparrows, Northern harriers, American kestrels, Red-tailed hawks and dozens more; Upland sandpiper and Sedge wren possible. We’ll visit the nearby NYS DEC Wildlife Management Area (WMA) if time permits.
