New York’s Vanishing Owls

Flocks of 40 – 50 or more Short-eared owls were once a common sight across New York State. Now, less than 100 remain. Join Friends of the IBA (FIBA) at Saratoga Library on November 1st to learn about the hidden life of these mysterious owls and the habitat in our own back yard that’s critical to their survival! Presented by FIBA Executive Director Laurie LaFond.

Join Friends of the IBA Executive Director Laurie LaFond and avid birder Bo Harris to see what’s happening in the IBA!  We’ll visit FIBA's Alfred Z. Solomon Grassland Bird Viewing Area and take a private tour of 64 acres of critical habitat we’re working to purchase. We’ll also visit NYSDEC’s Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and other prime birding sites nearby. Likely sightings include Northern harriers, kestrels, bluebirds, hawks, migrating warblers and dozens of other species!
