Warblers & Grassland Songbirds Birding Tour

Join Friends of the IBA's experienced birders for a guided tour of birding hot spots in Northern Washington County! We'll visit a forest edge where we've often seen Golden-winged, Blue-winged, American Redstart, Black and White and other warblers, as well as Great Crested flycatcher, Rose-breasted grosbeak and many other woodland edge species. A visit to nearby fields usually yields sightings of Bobolinks and other grassland birds. Orchard oriole possible.

Join Friends of the IBA with leaders Rich Speidel and Laurie LaFond on a winter birding adventure as we look for wintering raptors and songbirds in the Washington County Grasslands Important Bird Area (IBA). Sightings last year included Red-tailed and Rough-legged Hawks, Northern Harriers and Snowy Owls Horned larks and Snow Buntings were common, especially after a fresh snow. We even had a Northern Shrike last year!

Field Photography Workshop

Join Friends of the IBA for a bird photography workshop on Saturday, October 10. Celebrated wildlife photographer Dr. Gordon Ellmers takes us into the field to learn how to photograph birds in the wild. You will learn how to select and use equipment, compose shots, and get tips on the best times and locations for finding birds! This is a great time to catch the fall raptor migration.
