Washington County Grasslands Important Bird Area

Join Friends of the IBA on a guided bird walk and brief auto tour in the heart of the Washington County Grasslands Important Bird Area as we celebrate the return of our breeding grassland songbirds. Likely sightings include Bobolinks, Bluebirds, Eastern Meadowlarks, Mockingbirds, orioles, sparrows and many other songbirds, as well as native raptors like the American Kestrel (our smallest falcon), Northern Harrier (threatened) and Red-tailed Hawks. Savannah sparrow possible. Last year we had over 50 species!

The flute-like trills of the Meadowlarks blend with the happy burbling of Bobolinks and sweet songs of Bluebirds, sparrows and dozens of other bird species for a summer serenade you won't want to miss!
