Owl Watch & Winter Bird Walk

Join Friends of the IBA with leader Ron Renoni on a winter birding adventure as we look for wintering raptors and songbirds in the Washington County Grasslands Important Bird Area (IBA). Sightings last year included Red-tailed and Rough-legged Hawks, Northern Harriers and Snowy Owls Horned larks and Snow Buntings were common, especially after a fresh snow. We even had a Northern Shrike last year! Trip starts with a short trail walk/snowshoe in the heart of the IBA followed by an auto loop through the rolling countryside. We'll look for Short-eared Owls around dusk when they are more active. Please bring binoculars and dress in warm layers.
