Saturday, January 28, 2017 - 2:30pm
Saturday, March 18, 2017 - 4:00pm

Short-eared owls flock to Washington County Grasslands! Grab your binoculars and head out to the Washington County Grasslands with Friends of the IBA Director Laurie LaFond & Field Trip Leader Rich Speidel to look for Short-eared owls and other wintering raptors. Likely sightings include wintering Short-eared owls, Rough-legged hawks, Red-tailed hawks, Northern harriers, Horned larks, Snow buntings and more!

We’ll visit Friends of the IBA’s (FIBA) Alfred Z. Solomon Grassland Bird Viewing Area and the Washington County Grasslands WMA managed by NYS DEC on a combined walk and auto tour of the best winter birding “hot spots” in the area.

Free to FIBA Members, $10 for non-members; fee can be applied to annual membership. Group size is limited. CALL Rich at (518) 623-2587 to register. Friends of the IBA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit land trust working to conserve critical habitat for New York’s endangered Short-eared owls and other threatened and at-risk grassland birds.

Please check back for upcoming field trips in April, May & June
