Little Theater on the Farm

Located in the heart of the Washington County Grasslands, Little Theater on the Farm offers prime viewing for grassland birds practically year round. Short-eared Owls flock to the area in late fall or early winter and stay through until the end of March. This can be one of the best spots for getting close views of the owls when prey is abundant.
Northern Harriers can often be seen coursing over surrounding fields. In winter look for Rough-legged Hawks perched in lone trees in the field behind the pond or hovering over the fields in search of mice and voles.

Songbirds like Bobolinks, Eastern Meadowlarks and Bluebirds flock here in spring and summer. This is also a good place to look for Savannah Sparrows. Grasshopper Sparrows have been seen here some years. Cliff Swallows can usually be spotted mixed in with the Tree and Barn Swallows. Horned Larks and Snow Buntings flock to the area in winter.

The property boasts a small pond attractive to wildlife and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.  It also offers:

•    Large parking area
•    Bathrooms open/ available spring, summer and fall
•    Sheltered seating area in the lean-to adjacent to the parking area
•    Picnic tables will be available

Birders and photographers welcome at all times. The theater is available for seminars and large meetings. For more information about the non-profit Little Theater on the Farm visit their website at or Call: (518) 747-3421
