Location:
Rogers Island Visitors Center
11 Rogers Island Drive
Fort Edward, NY 12828
Description:

Join Friends of the IBA for an introduction to state endangered Short-eared Owls and other at risk birds of the Washington County Grasslands Important Bird Area.  Learn about these amazing owls and other at risk grassland birds and this dedicated nonprofit group’s work to conserve the birds and their habitat.  You will meet and learn about Short-eared Owls, Snowy Owls and some of the other Live Birds of Prey that will flock to Friends of the IBA’s 5th annual Winter Raptor Fest in March!

Get an update on Friends of the IBA’s progress in protecting the birds, as well as a sneak preview of highlights of Winter Raptor Fest 2015.  Light refreshments available. Join us afterwards for a brief tour of the IBA and a trip to Friends of the IBA’s new land acquisition – the Loftus parcel.  A favorite hangout for wintering raptors and Snowy Owls, the Loftus parcel is the future site of Friends of the IBA’s Alfred Z. Solomon Grassland Bird Viewing Area. Friends of the IBA is a (501)(c)(3) nonprofit working to raise awareness of and conserve the endangered and threatened birds of the Washington County Grasslands.
